Sydney taught philosophy for twenty-two years, first at Russell
College in Albany, then at Clark University in Worcester, MA..
She painted while teaching, studying with Howard Conant at NYU,
Bars Miller at Queens College and Lu Martinson. Leaving teaching
to paint full time in 1998 she continued her studies with Numael
and Shirley Pulido at their School of Classical Painting in
Hancock, NH.. “My hope as a painter is to capture something of
the beauty of the people, the landscapes, and the simple objects
that exist in the world around us.”
